January 12, 2006 - Stir Me Up
And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,.... - Hebrews 10:24
When you think about the church service you are going to attend this Sunday, do you really come with the mind-set and heart-set of a consideration of how you are going to stir someone up? Maybe you will stir someone up to wrath or hurt someone's feelings, but the writer to the Hebrews gave the command to "consider" each other so that they would be stirred up to do good works. To consider is more than just a casual thought, but a concerted effort to intellectually and willfully plan how you are going to stir someone up. You can't do that just by attending service, you must do that before you get there. You must think about it through the week. You must evaluate each person and how they are gifted. You must pray and seek the Lord's power and grace in order to stir each other up. Will you do that this week and every week? "Consider" what may happen if just a few begin to "consider" this week.
