April 10 - And He Dwelt Amongst Us
"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." – John 1:14
This Man, Jesus Christ, came into space and time to be the Spoken Word of the Father. This Man, Jesus Christ, "was God." This Man, Jesus Christ, came to dwell with us, God in the flesh. The birth of Christ Jesus was the opening line, written with Grace and Truth. The great drama would enfold as God’s plan of salvation and redemption.
When Jesus was born, he knew the end from the beginning. He was "Born to Die," just as we who believe in Jesus Christ are "Born Again to Live." Those who receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, receive the right to become children of God, "to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."
As a child growing up in Nazareth, He knew His life would take Him to the cross. The peace that was proclaimed to poor shepherds who watched their flocks by night, was the same peace that was proclaimed from the cross. Jesus said, "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And “It is finished."
