?By awesome deeds in righteousness you will answer us. O God of our Salvation, you who are the confidence of all the earth, and of the far-off sea?s??. Psalm 65:5
Do you Trust in vitamins, or in what you do to stay healthy. We can see in the Greek that trust has a few different meanings but here I want to use the Greek ?Elpizo?, which means in a religious sense, to wait for salvation with joy and full confidence, to hope, to hopefully trust in. Well, you do not know whether the vitamins or whatever you do to help you will work but you trust that it will. You have confidence and maybe strong confidence because of what you heard or read about them and even the results of those who have done the same.
When I read the Bible, I am told many times and promised of God?s mightiness, His righteousness, His security, His power and His love for me amongst many other promises and attributes of God. ?In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, and His children will have a place of refuge? Prov. 14:26. Fearing the Lord is not being scared or frightened of Jesus in the sense where we do not want to go to Him or call upon Him, but instead, standing in reverence of His majesty, Him being all knowing, all-powerful, and all present at once.
As incomprehensive as it is the Lord can be with all His children, all, at the same time. We can run to Him and take refuge or shelter in Him. We can bow to Him and pray, knowing that He will listen to our cries. Knowing whom we serve, a big God and creator and how much we can trust in Him, more than any philosophy of the world, or any standard that all of us start believing before we come to knowing Jesus Christ. His Holy Scripture?s are without dispute alive and above any religious ceremony to the believer in Jesus Christ alone.
?The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to turn one away from the snares of death? Prov.14:27. When we are trusting and walking in fear or in reverence to the Lord, we are a fountain of life to ourselves and to others as well. Our trust in the Lord whether or not we see Him brings blessings to our Lord and glorifies Him, in return, we are blessed. Our trust in the word of God causes the enemy to flee, from our life. Yes, maybe even more persecutions but it is for our benefit, to strengthen us, so that we may endure the times to come, and build our character. The Lord will protect us through these trials, yet we must be praying without ceasing, and believing without doubt.
Jesus said to Thomas after he was unbelieving to touch Him so that he may see and be not in doubt. Jesus said, ?Do not be unbelieving, but believing? Jn 20:27. ?And Thomas answered and said to Him, ?My Lord and my God? Jn 20:28! Exclaiming these words Thomas believed and ?Jesus said to him, ?Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed? Jn 20:29. Which were those who believed before the coming of Jesus Christ and those after His death and resurrection.
We need to trust in these examples of true history and what has taken place for us to believe, ?blessed are all those who put their trust in Him? Ps 2:12. Cursed and condemned are those who reject Him and trust in the world, for you condemn yourselves with your unbelief. ?Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him? Ps 34:8! Exclaiming once again that we can trust in the Lord who was predicted, prophesied and foreseen, lived, was seen by many and is alive for those who want to believe. Not for those who want to try out Jesus for their gain, but those who want to submit to Him and allow Him to reign king and Lord in their everyday life.
?Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him? Ps 34:9. Listen and do not just read the scripture, but listen, because as a Christian our wants should not be of this world, I mean being secure and comfortable here as if this is it. Not wanting the things or luxuries of this life, to sustain us, so that we are happy, because it will not bring happiness, but more want and emptiness, a constant void, because I believe in the bible and what it tells me about going to heaven when I die. because I believe in Jesus Christ and His promises for me (believers) ?Blessed is that man who makes the Lord his trust, And does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies? Ps 40:4.
The title of this teaching is a big one because trusting when you pray is very important. It can seem as foolishness, if we doubt and say, ?who am I talking too, what am I doing?. Believers speak to God Himself, to the creator, the one who sustains all life everywhere, sustains all things. ?For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, Blessed is the man who trusts in You? Ps 84:11-12!
We must not be ashamed of who Jesus Christ is and what he writes for us in His Gospels, ?And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me" Matt 11:6. We must not be ashamed to pray and commune with the Lord and God of our salvation, Jesus Christ. Pray and seek Him, call and receive His free gift, with a humble heart, not to try Him out but because what you seek for you does not work, because your need of a savior is recognized and understood.
The Lord Jesus will provide atonement for those who are saved, ?Blessed is the man You choose, And cause to approach You, That he may dwell in Your courts. We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, Of Your holy temple? Ps 65:4
Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, Whose heart is set on pilgrimage? Ps 84:5. So be encouraged as a believer, and take a look at your prayer life, make sure your building a relationship with Jesus Christ the Savior. If you do not believe, please look at your existing happiness and Joy, and realize that it is worldly and true peace only comes from those who walk in the ways of the holy scriptures. Look to those who have lived the life of the world and thought they had true happiness and understand the peace they now have as a bible believing born again of the Holy Spirit Christian. If you are searching, God will answer you but you must call to Him.
Read Matthew 25:37-46
May God Bless you and give you of His peace, Amen.
