Need Jesus? >>> Are you a Christian?

I AGREE

The writing ministry of Pastor Frank Keeler

I confess that I watched way too much television when I was young. Virtually every day my schedule was school, sports in the park, then come home and turn on the television to watch reruns (now they are called classic television). One of my favorites was Gilligan?s Island and I was recently thinking of a conversation that Gilligan had with the Skipper, the Professor and Mr. Howell. I don?t remember exactly what the Skipper said but Gilligan responded by saying, ?You?re right Skipper?? but Mr. Howell contradicted the Skipper and Gilligan said, ?You?re right Mr. Howell!? The Professor has been listening intently and says, ?Gilligan, they can?t both be right.? Gilligan considers this and then says, ?You?re right Professor!?

Although Gilligan?s responses were as heartfelt as a fictional character?s can be, it is important to realize that not everyone can be right. With all of the competing and contradictory ideas and beliefs that are floating around in this often cynical world that we live in it is critical to understand that not everyone can be correct. Anyone who tried to agree with all of the life philosophies being advocated today would soon be as confused as Gilligan. For example, it is impossible to believe that life on earth came about as the result of some great cosmic accident, that we are here by chance and when we die we merely cease to exist AND to also believe that Jesus came to earth to die as a sacrifice for our sins and that if we accept his gift of salvation we live forever. They simply both can?t be true. Trying to believe that both are true will not only lead to confusion but also to stress and depression. The Christian life is often referred to as a walk. Amos 3:3 says, ?Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?? The truth is that we can?t walk with God unless we agree with God. There is incredible power in agreement. Jesus said, ?1 tell you the truth whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. 19 ?Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them (Matthew 18:18-20).?

On the flip side, Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 6:16, ?What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: ?I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.?

The truth is that we can?t walk with the Lord and anyone or anything else. The proof of our walking with Him is that we agree with Him and the proof that we agree with Him is not just in the words we speak but also in the lives we live. Have a good walk! God Bless, Pastor Frank
