?As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me? Psalm 55:16. ?Call upon me in the day of trouble; I shall rescue you, and you will honor (Glorify Him) me? Psalm 50:15.
Does disaster have to happen in our life, to cause us to pray? I can remember when I was young and praying when I was in trouble, and believe it or not God in His mercy and unconditional love answered me and helped me. His love is so consistant and so unending that He will always try and get our attention, He does not give up so easy, because He loves us so much. We on the other hand can tend to give up, very easy, when we think God is not answering us, as believers. If we are abiding in Jesus, following His will for us, and being obedient to His word then we can always expect a yes. ?If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you? John 15:7. ?Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they shall be granted you? Mark 11:24. As an unbeliever, they never give in to the love of Jesus and believe His truth because things are going good in their life, ?what for? they may say.
It is when things are bad does the hand of mercy and grace extend out to us and we see it sometimes with a bit of clarity. It seems as if this is the best time to minister to people, when they are hurting. They are more open and willing, but not when things are comfortable, and fine. It does not have to get bad to understand how bad it is and if we would just look into the future a little and see what the consequences are going to be for our actions now maybe we would think twice. See, if you do not understand what the truth speaks and think that you are going to heaven because of a religious act you performed then you are only deceiving yourself. Jesus told Satan himself as He was being tested by him "?Away with you, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve " Matt.4:10. It is by whom we know and by whom we serve that determines our outcome, a Christian serves the living God of heaven ( 1 Cor.15:13-19 ).
Do not let the comfort of today ruin the outcome when disaster strikes, when your life is going to end, because we do not know this time, day ?And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment...? Heb.9:27. The devil never ever wants us to see the consequence of our actions, but to twist ?living for today? into ?living it up for today? because what does tomorrow hold?so party down. Well those thoughts are lies fed to us in our mind by the enemy that if we believe them we essentially live in ignorance. ?having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart?? Eph.4:18.
Maybe calamity and troubles are allowed for revival, for people to see what is missing in their life and how fast life and how fast materialism can be lost. As a nation, maybe we need to see just how bad we are fighting over useless issues. How we are giving up in marriage, throwing in the towel because where not happy anymore, indulging in idolatry, in cults, in false religions and how Satan is separating and destroying church and family.
In this hurricane disaster of Katrina I hope many are praying and praying continually, it does not matter if you are there helping or if you have given financially, praying in these times is the most important thing we all as born again Christians should be doing. Salvation is God?s purpose here and what is necessary in God?s eyes to obtain this may not be in ours. The ways and thoughts of God, how He saves people is not how we might do things or think. ?Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out? Rom.11:33!
If you are, part of this disaster and do not know the love of God then listen to the Holy Spirit as He convicts you. God says if you call upon Him, you will be saved. If you call upon Him in trouble He will rescue you, and you will be filled with power to glorify Him. Call out to Him and confess your sins, repent of them, and be made a child of God. You will see if you are serious, the transformation He wants to do in your life. Something hard to see in the midst of disaster sometimes but His servants are all around seek the Lord and He will show you the way.
Read 1 John chapter 3 ? our hope
May God Bless you and give you of His peace, Amen.
