Fruit of the Spirit

Bible Study on Prayer

I want to focus in more on God?s love for us, and how that effects our prayer lives, as well as our walk with God (assuming that you are born again as John 3:5 teaches). If your not born again as the Scriptures teach, you may understand this teaching because I will be praying to Jesus for you. If you?re being convicted (that voice in conscience) and God is nudging at your soul, then seek Him out and call out to Him so that you might to be saved

"But the fruit of the Spirit is Love, joy, peace, longsuffering (Patience), kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law?" (Gal.5:22 - 23).

Greetings!

I want to focus in more on God?s love for us, and how that effects our prayer lives, as well as our walk with God (assuming that you are born again as John 3:5 teaches). If your not born again as the Scriptures teach, you may understand this teaching because I will be praying to Jesus for you. If you?re being convicted (that voice in conscience) and God is nudging at your soul, then seek Him out and call out to Him so that you might to be saved.

Do all the mentioned fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control) in the above verse work into a good prayer life? Yes, it most definitely does. Without this type fruit in our prayer life, it can become stagnant, or we may quit because we see no answers to our prayers. It becomes unmoving in a spiritual way and the worldly reality starts to set in and take over. We can start to once again rationalize our prayer life as non-important and unnecessary to our faith walk. But on contrary, it is very necessary to the believer and without God?s Love working in and through us, then our prayer life and spiritual walk are be dead and the things that we are doing for His sake are all for nothing. ?Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing? (1 Cor.13:1-3).

So yes, if we are not seeking the Lord by prayer, a never ceasing, always giving supplication, always rejoicing always, always giving thanks in and through all circumstances, with love then it is for nothing; it is only noise we are making. We think because we do good deeds that maybe God will hear our prayers but He doesn?t. Luke says ?But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive back, what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive as much back? (Luke 6:32-34).

There are several ingredients necessary in order for us to walk with the Lord effectively and maintaining a good testimony. The fruit of the Spirit needs to be poured into you and you need to receive that fruit that the Spirit of God provides which can only be made known to you by Jesus giving them to you and working them through you. As a Christian you need to be asking Jesus Christ for the fruit of the Spirit, if you do not ask you will not receive. ?For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened? (Matt.7:8 ). ?And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive? (Matt.21:22). We want to be asking for heavenly things that the name of Jesus Christ be glorified and not asking for things out of selfish ambitions or wants.

If you are sinning or trying to sacrifice to God only to be heard in your prayers it will not work and God will not hear you. The Lord spoke through the prophet Isaiah saying of sacrificing and sinning to ?bring no more futile sacrifices; Incense is an abomination to Me. The New Moons, the Sabbaths, and the calling of assemblies - I cannot endure iniquity and the sacred meeting. Your new Moons and your appointed feasts My soul hates; They are a trouble to Me, I am weary of bearing them. When you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; Even though you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood? (Isaiah 1:13-15).

Even though we are born again by the Spirit and are called Christians we can still do things that hinder our walk with Jesus and cause God to turn away from our prayers. Now the good news is that though we are falling away or being double minded, we can always come to Jesus Christ in repentance and ?if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness? (1 John 1:9).

Jesus Christ is Love and we need His love in us to have a good spiritual prayer life, because prayer is powerful and is the main ingredient in our walk. ?But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned? (1 Cor. 2:14). So ask Jesus Christ in your heart today that you may know a wonderful prayer life. ?Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but he Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God? (1 Cor.2:12).
