?For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.? (Psalm 112:7)
Our time in prayer is very important to a healthy relationship with Jesus. If we put anything else above our Savior Jesus then it is wrong and will only lead you to have a worthless testimony, if you are a born again Christian. See, Satan is even trying to take down the believer so that he is useless for the kingdom of God and maybe even get the believer to go back to his old wicked ways. The enemy wants the believing Christian to have a blemished testimony so that no one will believe in Jesus and cause the unbeliever to see the Gospel as foolishness and stupid.
God is a jealous God in the sense that He is not sinning by being jealous but is jealous for your time. ?For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ? ( 2 Cor.11:2 ). The Father wants to join together you with Jesus as one. That you walk worthy in this life and are placed beside Jesus. Pure from carnality, because you have endured the trials, the tribulations, and persecutions. You will be like a clean vessel, ready to be with Jesus complete and sanctified when you leave this world.
Jesus wants your time and worship above everything fun or pleasurable in this world; it should be Christ Jesus first. If it was a Sunday, you were going to attend service but remembered or were called by a relative on the phone telling you of an event that was happening, and only going to happen that day, would you attend service (church) or would you cancel and go to the event? I ask you this question because I believe above everything, no matter what the excitement, that God has a message for you and a tremendous blessing for you if you put Him first.
Yes, according to our flesh that is hard and we can always compromise and rationalize the situation by saying ?Well this will never happen again? or ?I?ll just hear a teaching on the radio? maybe even buy the tape. Even though this may be ok, the point being is whether or not you will choose Jesus first or after you fulfill your desires.
Jesus says in Luke 14 verse 26 "If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.? In addition, in Luke 14 verse 27, Jesus adds "And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.? In both verses, God is being very straightforward and his language is very strong, not literal but figurative of how much He wants you to spend time with Him. I can understand Jesus, He knows exactly what we need and has a special and perfect plan for our life even though you do not think so. We sometimes think that God is being mean to us, but He is not and if you took the time to know Him He would show you.
He wants you to put Him above everything else, He is the only one that can change you, can fix your life up, straighten out all the crooked roads in your life and put you on a firm foundation.
When we follow Jesus Christ, we need to be daily seeking Him, by reading the bible, spending quality time with Him. Nobody should ever be too busy to spend time with Jesus if you are a Christian because He can make things happen for you in this life and give you favor.
Therefore, I hope to encourage you as believers to stay focused on your Christian walk above everything else. Do not worry! Jesus says in Matthew 6 verse 33 says "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.? All what things shall be added to you? The things that you need in life, the things you need as a Christian and whatever else it is that you are going through the Lord will help you endure them and get through the problems. You can have peace, joy, and happiness in this world.
God bless you all.
