Still flying your way through the sci-fi caves of Anthem? Then you'll want to hear about today's new patch which aims to further improve the beleaguered shooter. The major new additions are the introduction of Legendary Missions. These are replayable battles from the story campaign that can be played over and over again, with a different one being available each day. There are six in total, retaining the same objectives as when played in the story mode, but offering a far greater challenge and better loot.

Anthem update 1.0.4 adds Legendary Missions which allows players to replay certain missions at a higher difficulty level. There will also be the addition of Elysian Caches at the end of Stronghold missions which will contain a piece of loot from 67 possible unique vanity unlocks. The cache can only be opened with Elysian Keys which players earn by doing the daily challenges.

Elysian Caches are chests that appear after defeating a stronghold boss. These can only be opened with Elysian Keys, which are awarded for completing daily challenges. If one player chooses to spend their Keys to open a Cache, the entire party receives loot. These Caches contain 67 unique vanity rewards ranging from vinyls to victory poses to emotes, and you’ll never get a duplicate item when you open one. Buy Cheap

Legendary Missions, on the other hand, are for those looking to gather as much powerful gear as they can. The patch notes state that these are more difficult versions of Anthem’s story missions, with one being offered per day and no limit on how many times it can be completed. It’s not clear what the nature of said difficulty is, but hopefully it’s not just even more spongy enemies. There’s also no word on rewards players can expect from completing these, but one would think that greater difficulty would equate to greater rewards.

Even more important than the feature additions will be Anthem‘s loot changes, as the game’s community continues to request improved loot drops. Patch 1.0.4 does improve loot for Freelancers by improving the quality of drops that come from chests in Strongholds, Freeplay, and Missions, as well as drops from Apex creatures including Ursix, Titans, Furies, and Escari/Luminaries. The final change improves the loot from Stronghold bosses when playing GM1 difficulty and higher, increasing chances at Masterwork and Legendary rewards.

Another welcome tweak allow you to access the Forge from the main menu in Fort Tarsis or the Launch Bay, while the loading screen when entering the Forge has been removed. The patch notes for Update 1.0.4 are very extensive, but if you're curious, you can view them at the link above. EA and BioWare have outlined 90 days of content prepared for Anthem, with plans to further patch and add on to the game in the coming months.
