Need Jesus? >>> Are you a Christian?

Daily Verse
May 16, 2005 - To Worry or not to Worry?

“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?” – Matthew 6:25

When you tell someone that they shouldn’t worry, they usually respond by saying: “I am not worried, just concerned.” But that is not always the truth, they in fact are worried. But why not worry?

Worry is a state of distrust in someone or something. When I fully trust that the waiter is going to bring my drink, I don’t worry. But if he is untrustworthy, I begin to worry. I am not just concerned I am worried that he is not going to bring my drink, and I am going to die of thirst.

When Jesus says we are not to worry, He is in fact saying that He can be trusted to take care of our needs. How else could that be taken. Why should I be worried or even “concerned” about the things that Jesus has promised to take care of? When I worry, I am saying God cannot be trusted. Let us therefore make every effort to trust the only one who is completely trust worthy.
