Need Jesus? >>> Are you a Christian?

Daily Verse
May 12, 2005 - Trusting in Prayer

1 Chronicles 5:20 ďAnd they were helped against them, and the Hagrites were delivered into their hand, and all who were with them, for they cried out to God in the battle. He heeded their prayer, because they put their trust in Him.Ē

When someone talks about devotionals, quiet time, time in the Word, daily walk, and prayer life, do you know what they are talking about? Do you, like many Christians, know these words but donít know them practically in your life? All of us suffer from spiritual comparison syndrome from time to time. As the Bible says: ďFor we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. (2 Corinthians 10:12)Ē It is a wonderful goal to have a daily quiet time and regular devotionals in the Bible, but without the power of the Holy Spirit it is impossible for any of that to effect us in a spiritual way.

Many people went to God in prayer in the Old Testament. Some went in faith and trusted the Word of God. In other words, whatever God told them to believe in or whatever God told them to do, they believed and did. Today we are suffering from a lack of belief in Godís entire Word. It is not that we have difficulty understanding it, but a lack of desire to fulfill or do what it says what we must do. This goes for prayer as well. Therefore, let us look at prayer and hopefully we will begin to pray with power and in faith.

In order for you to receive Godís help and wisdom in time of need, you need to come to Him with belief and must not doubt. You must trust Him and what He says to you, either by the Spirit of God or by the Word of God says to you. If you are doubting the Bible, then coming to God must begin with repentance for your lack of faith. If you believe it, but donít do it, then you must repent of your lack of devotion. If you believe it, but donít care what it says, then you must repent of your evil heart.
